Manchester United are keen on Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte to bolster their midfield for next season. While no agreement is reached, Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano states that there’s a positive dialogue between the two clubs.
Romano recently shared that PSG are thinking about loaning out Ugarte but wants to include a mandatory purchase clause in the deal. Ideally, they prefer either a permanent transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy.
The transfer fee has been the sticking point between the two clubs, preventing the deal from moving forward. Journalist Duncan Castles reported that Manchester United have offered £42 million for Ugarte, but PSG are holding out for £50 million they initially paid for him.
While the Red Devils and the Parisians have yet to find common ground on a transfer fee Romano spoke with Give Me Sport and noted that talks are heading in the right direction for a deal to occur.
“So I can confirm to you that there is an agreement still valid between Manuel Ugarte and Manchester United on the contract,” Romano said. “Manuel Ugarte wants to go to Man United.
“Now Man United have to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, and it means on transfer fee. So at the moment, the contact, direct contact, between Man United and PSG, is still ongoing. It’s a positive contact, but still no agreement on the transfer fee.”
