Julian Álvarez might be leaving Manchester City as the Argentine seeks a bigger role. He’s been linked to Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, and Chelsea.

Recently, the Sunday Mirror reported that Arsenal is looking into a move for Álvarez. However, the London club might have to offload some players to finance the transfer, as Manchester City is reportedly asking for between €80 million and €90 million.

In addition, TyC Sports’ Gastón Edul reported that PSG has made a higher offer to Manchester City for Álvarez than Atlético Madrid has for both the player and the club. However, Atlético still has a slight edge because of their location.

With rumors of a potential departure this summer, talkSPORT’s Scott Minto believes it wouldn’t be wise for Manchester City to sell to a direct rival in Arsenal, who are challenging them for the Premier League title.

“We know that Arsenal is just one piece away from having that perfect jigsaw,” Minto said. “And Álvarez could be that man, especially considering how adaptable he is, how versatile he is, how he can play as a nine, he can play as a No. 10, he can play as a false nine, he can play out wide. He can do a little bit of everything going forward. He’s a World Cup winner…

“If he wants to leave for whatever reason, it might be family reasons, I don’t know. But if he does want to go, then where [they] let them go, I think, is going to be crucial. [Manchester City] cannot let him go to Arsenal.”

In the 2023-24 season, the 24-year-old played in 54 matches for Manchester City, netting 19 goals and assisting on 13 others. His impressive numbers show he’s eager for a more consistent spot in the starting lineup.
