Liverpool’s Last-Minute Bid for PSG Newcomer Falls Short, Report Reveals

Paris Saint-Germain has bolstered their defense as the capital club announced on Friday the arrival of Willian Pacho. Moreover, new information surfaced on how the Ecuadorian defender eventually landed in the French capital.

Pacho revealed why he decided to join the Parisian project while speaking with the club’s official website.

“This is a huge club, and I’m really excited to be part of this family now,” Pacho said. “The project is ambitious, the way they work, the coach—everything about it appeals to me! When the club reached out, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I’m confident that being here will help me grow both as a person and a player, and I’ll give it my all!”

The capital club would have beaten Liverpool for the Ecuadorian defender, as the Reds reportedly had their eyes on him. Le10Sport shared their information on Sunday, noting that the Premier League side attempted to make a last-minute swoop for the player.

According to the French media outlet, when Liverpool found out that PSG had reached an agreement, they made a higher offer to Eintracht Frankfurt for Pacho. However, it was too late; Frankfurt had already committed to PSG and turned down Liverpool’s bid to finalize the deal with Paris.

PSG can be happy to have secured a talent that sporting advisor Luis Campos has been monitoring for some time. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal includes a fixed fee of €40 million plus add-ons and a five-year contract for Pacho.

Since arriving in Frankfurt in 2023, Pacho has made 44 appearances with the German side and registered two assists.
