Leipzig, Dortmund Receive Boost as PSG Withdraws from Race for Liverpool, Tottenham-Linked Player

Olympique Lyonnais’ Rayan Cherki has caught the eye of several top European clubs this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur all showing interest. However, the capital club could be closing this file.

Borussia Dortmund emerged as the frontrunner for his signature with reports last month revealing that the two sides had agreed to personal terms. Nonetheless, there’s also RB Leipzig, who are keen on Cherki to replace Dani Olmo, who left to join FC Barcelona.

Still, the Parisians are about to allow any team keen on Cherki an opportunity and swoop in and land the Lyon youngster. L’Equipe reports that the Désiré Doué case has been activated after Xavi Simons announced that he does not want to return to play at PSG this season.

The French media outlet adds that Doué’s arrival would definitively end the possibility of seeing Cherki join.

This potential transfer to Leipzig, or if the Premier League clubs revisit this file, could give Cherki the opportunity to showcase his talent abroad, especially after he finished the season with three goals and nine assists in 39 matches across all competitions.
