Galatasaray Eyes PSG, Real Madrid-Linked Star to Strengthen Defense, Report Says

This summer, Paris Saint-Germain was linked to several center-backs, including Leny Yoro and Dean Huijsen, but those rumors didn’t lead to any transfers. Nonetheless, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are reportedly interested in veteran Aymeric Laporte.

According to Jose Alvarez Haya from El Chiringuito, PSG is one of the European clubs competing with Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid for the Spanish player. The report also mentions that PSG is particularly interested because manager Luis Enrique is eager to bring Laporte on board.

Enrique coached Laporte when he was managing Spain’s national team, so they already have a good understanding of each other. Laporte, now 30, played for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia last season. After helping Spain win the UEFA Euro 2024, it’s no wonder he’s attracting interest from European clubs.

Nonetheless, Diario AS reports that Galatasaray have Laporte on their radar as fans are asking the board to sign the central defender to have a better UEFA Champions League campaign this season. However, beyond this possible deal, the Turkish side need to sell two foreign players.

Before leaving for Saudi Arabia, Laporte spent time with Athletic Club from 2012 to 2018 and then moved to Manchester City, where he played from 2018 to 2023. Once his time with the Premier League was over, the defender went to Al-Nassr.
