Crystal Palace’s Price for Star Defender Proves Too Steep for PSG, Expert Says

Paris Saint-Germain have yet to bolster its defense. They were linked to multiple center-backs, including Leny Yoro and Dean Huijsen. However, the Parisians didn’t land either player or have brought in any center-backs so far this summer.

The summer transfer window is reaching its final stretch before it closes as August is now here. Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe are out to start the 2024-25 season. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what defenders they look at.

On the latest PSG Talking, Football Transfers’ Robin Bairner discussed the capital club’s center-back situation and mentioned Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi as a potential target. However, Bairner lays out the issue should the Ligue 1 side pursue the England international.

“Marc Guéhi at Crystal Palace is an interesting one for me,Bairner said.He played very well for England at Euro 2024 but the price that Palace have put on him today, Newcastle are looking at him, the price that Palace have put on him for Newcastle is absolutely extortionate.

“PSG simply won’t pay that. think it was something in the region of £60 million or £70 million, which would be about €70 million or €80 million, which is a huge, huge price.”

Guéhi played 31 matches across all competitions for Crystal Palace last season, and the 24-year-old has a contract until 2026. Whether it’s Guéhi or someone else, PSG cannot close the summer window without improving their defense.
