Milan Skriniar could be on his way out before Friday’s summer transfer window closes. If that happens, Paris Saint-Germain might be planning a last-minute move for a center-back to keep the position strong.
L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi reported this week that PSG had contacted Benfica about their 22-year-old center-back, Tomás Araújo, as a potential replacement for Skriniar if he departs.
Earlier this summer, Benfica rejected a €20 million offer from Crystal Palace for Araújo. However, another Premier League club will challenge the Parisians to land the player, who the Portuguese side view as crucial to their team.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday that Chelsea are considering Araújo as a potential option if a defender departs in the final days of the transfer window. While no bid has been made yet, the club holds Araújo in high regard.

Moreover, L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi reports that PSG have offered Araújo a contract worth €5 million per year, but they’re waiting to sell a center-back before proceeding. Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Benfica to reach an agreement.

Araújo is under contract with Benfica until 2028 and has made 27 appearances with the first team across all competitions. He has also scored one goal in his brief time with the senior squad.
