Bayern Munich to Leverage Manchester United Defender’s Injury for Potential Sale of PSG-Linked Player

Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain this summer transfer window, but the Dutchman seems to have his heart set on joining Manchester United. However, the German side aren’t keen on giving the player away.

According to a recent report from Bild, Manchester United has made its first bid for Matthijs de Ligt, but it falls short of Bayern Munich’s asking price. Bayern is willing to sell de Ligt, potentially reuniting him with Erik ten Hag at United, but it wants €50 million (£42 million).

Manchester United’s offer is said to be €30 million, with an additional €5 million in add-ons, totaling around £29.4 million. As no agreement has been reached, this could give PSG a chance to make their own offer if they want to revisit this file.

Furthermore, the Bundesliga club could use Leny Yoro’s injury to keep their asking price, understanding that the Premier League side needs another center-back. The Athletic reports (h/t Diario AS) that Manchester United tried to keep Yoro’s serious injury a secret to speed up negotiations for de Ligt.

However, leaked images of Yoro on crutches forced United to reveal his condition. The club now fears Bayern Munich will stick to its €50 million asking price for de Ligt, knowing about United’s urgency due to Yoro’s injury. United initially offered €35 million, hoping Bayern would lower its demands over time. But now, the situation has changed.
