Bayern Munich Surprised by Chelsea, Tottenham-Linked Player’s Decision to Join PSG, Report Says

Stade Rennais’ Désiré Doué will reportedly be heading to Paris Saint-Germain to continue his career in Ligue 1. Moreover, the teenager rejected various clubs when making his decision, and one report reveals how Bayern Munich reacted.

This summer, Doué attracted interest from top European clubs such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Tottenham HotspurA recent report from Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna revealed that Bayern Munich had pulled ahead of PSG in the race for Doué at one point.

Despite the interest abroad, the 19-year-old opted to remain in France and join a young PSG squad. Sky Sport Germany’s Kerry Hau and Florian Plettenberg reported the reaction Bayern Munich had upon learning of Doué’s decision.

According to Hau and Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are disappointed with Doué’s choice to join PSG. The club had been optimistic about securing his commitment after positive discussions with him and his management.

Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, and Vincent Kompany put in a lot of effort and received encouraging signs from Doué during the Olympics, which led them to believe he was leaning toward Bayern Munich.

His decision to go with PSG came as a surprise, and instead of informing Bayern Munich directly, Doué relayed his choice through his management.

Doué had an impressive 2023-24 season, playing in 43 games across all competitions and tallying four goals and six assists for Rennes. Moreover, the teenager won a silver medal during the Olympics as the French national team lost in the final to Spain.
