Paris Saint-German was among the many teams keen on Athletic club star Nico Williams. However, the UEFA Euro 2024 winner reportedly rejected the capital club’s offer to join them this summer, but there’s a reason why he’s likely staying with the La Liga side.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, and PSG are all reportedly interested in Williams. Despite the interest from these top clubs, the 22-year-old isn’t going anywhere.

Diario SPORT recently reported that Williams has officially rejected PSG’s offer. Manager Luis Enrique and sports director Luis Campos have been notified, and they think he’ll be sticking with Athletic Club. Now, the reason why Williams rejected the Parisians and intends to stay with his boyhood club has to do with his brother.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Iñaki Williams is the one who is putting the most pressure on his brother Nico to stay at Athletic. The older Williams wants to play with his brother in the UEFA Europa League this season.

The younger Williams also impressed at the club level, making 37 appearances across all competitions for Athletic Club last season. He scored eight goals and provided 19 assists, contributing to the team’s success in winning the 2024 Copa del Rey.
