Barcelona, PSG-Linked Star Urged to Stay at Athletic Club Amid Transfer Speculation

Paris Saint-Germain was one of several clubs interested in Athletic Club’s star, Nico Williams. However, the UEFA Euro 2024 winner reportedly turned down their offer this summer and one journalist believes the winger should stay with the Spanish side.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, and PSG are all reportedly eyeing Williams at one point this summer transfer window.

According to a recent report from Diario SPORT, Williams has officially turned down PSG’s offer. Manager Luis Enrique and sports director Luis Campos have been informed, and they believe he’ll be staying with Athletic Club.

Moreover, one journalist believes that the 22-year-old should remain at Athletic Club rather than continue his career elsewhere.

“If Nico Williams wants to play for a top team, he’ll stay at Bilbao,” El Chringuito’s Edu Velasco said (h/t Le10Sport). “But if he’s after money, he might go to [Manchester] City, Chelsea, or PSG.”

Mundo Deportivo also reported that Iñaki Williams is putting the most pressure on his brother Nico to stay at Athletic. The older Williams wants to play with his brother in the UEFA Europa League this season.

The younger Williams also impressed at the club level, making 37 appearances across all competitions for Athletic Club last season.
