Manchester United might not be bluffing when it comes to pursuing other alternative targets as the transfer fee keeps the Manuel Ugarte file at a standstill with Paris Saint-Germain.

David Ornstein from The Athletic reports that Manchester United are exploring other midfield options after hitting a snag in their talks with PSG over Ugarte. The main issue is PSG’s €60 million asking price.

Meanwhile, PSG remain relaxed, knowing there’s plenty of interest from other potential buyers. Nonetheless, over the last few days, several names have surfaced in the rumor mill as potential targets for the Premier League side.

The Telegraph’s James Ducker reported this week that Manchester United have considered the following midfield options after distancing themselves from Ugarte: Sander Berge, Richard Ríos, Martín Zubimendi, and Sofyan Amrabat.

Furthermore, Ben Jacobs reported this week that Manchester United are looking at João Gomes from Wolverhampton and Andre from Fluminense as backup options if they can’t land Ugarte. There’s now another name to add to the alternate target list.

According to Luca Bianchin from La Gazzetta dello Sport, an ambitious project has been proposed to midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who is also attracting interest from AC Milan. Fofana has experience playing as a defensive, central, and right midfielder during his time at AS Monaco.

Fofana has one more year left on his contract, so Monaco probably knows that this is their last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for a pending free agent next summer.
