Stade Rennais’ Désiré Doué is drawing interest from top European clubs this summer. However, the French club intend to stand firm and not sell the player at a price that doesn’t seem suitable to them.

The 19-year-old had a standout 2023-24 season, playing in 43 games and racking up four goals and six assists in all competitions for the Ligue 1 team. As a result, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in the teenager.

Despite the interest from high-profile clubs, new sporting director Frédéric Massara gave an update on Doué and noted that Rennes have the means to reject bids for players, which includes the young midfielder.

“Today, Stade Rennais has the ability to say no to any offer,” Massara said (h/t Paris Fans). “If substantial offers come to the table, it’s not just about Stade Rennais; it reflects the current state of football, which demands careful consideration case by case. Right now, that’s not the situation we’re facing. We have no concerns at that level.

“When substantial offers do come in, it’s just how football operates. It can turn heads among players, their circles, and the entire system. We operate within this framework and must manage such situations. Having the opportunity to possess talents that attract the interest of Europe’s biggest clubs and potentially receive extravagant offers is truly a blessing.”

A recent report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reveals that Tottenham are under internal pressure to land Doué, whose stock could rise even more with a good performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Romano adds that Spurs’ scouts suggest and push for Doué to bolster their team.
