Kylian Mbappé hasn’t had the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament that many hoped, considering this is likely the only opportunity he has to bolster his candidacy for the Ballon d’Or this year.
The 25-year-old only has one goal at Euro 2024 which came off a penalty kick against Poland in the group stage. Moreover, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner suffered a nose injury on Matchday 1 in the contest against Austria.
However, Le Parisien reports that the Real Madrid star blames Paris Saint-Germain for his poor Euro performance. According to a French media outlet, Mbappé had a stressful dispute with PSG over wages and bonuses, even though PSG paid him the bonuses he gave up last summer.
The information also reveals that his declining fitness levels, which he attributes to PSG and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, have been a problem since his playing time at the club decreased in February.
The reasons for Mbappé’s terrible campaign at #EURO2024 so far according to @le_Parisien:

In a recent interview with PSG Talk, journalist Robin Bairner notes that he doesn’t see the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner lifting the Ballon d’Or this year.
“I think he probably wasn’t really a major Ballon d’Or contender purely because of PSG’s performance in the Champions League,” Bairner said. “I think if he was going to win the Ballon d’Or he would have had to have a stellar Euros, I think. You were probably talking about scoring six or seven goals. He’s unlikely to do that now.”
