Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt and Manchester United appear to be nearing a deal that would allow him to head to Old Trafford this summer. While reports suggest the deal is nearing competition, one outlet reveals the opposite.
According to a recent report from RMC Sport, PSG is eyeing de Ligt, currently under contract with Bayern until 2027, as a vital addition to their squad. However, new reports suggest Manchester United could have a stronger chance of signing him.
Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler reported that Manchester United are close to agreeing to a £43 million fee with Bayern Munich for de Ligt. However, Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports a different story.
Plettenberg reveals that Manchester United have not yet made a formal bid to sign de Ligt from Bayern Munich, so a deal is not close. It will be interesting to see if this is a window for any club to sway the Dutchman away from a move to the Premier League side.
