Over the years, Paris Saint-Germain has earned its reputation as a big-spender club that pursues expensive superstar signings. However, when you look beyond the signings of Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr., you’ll see a new strategy at the club that prioritizes young, talented players with loads of potential.
While most members of PSG’s Under-19 team work on their game and their studies using an essay writing service, several teenagers have broken through to the first team and will make a significant impact during the 2024-25 season, the first without superstar Kylian Mbappé leading the attack.
Warren Zaïre-Emery is the most notable teenager in the PSG squad. At 18 years old, he is a regular starter in Luis Enrique’s system, and this summer, he was selected to be part of France’s squad at the UEFA European Championship. The next progression for Zaïre-Emery will be to maintain his consistency throughout the season. We also know he is a physical player, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him add some finesse to his game. If he can be a threat to score or play the final ball into an attacker, his game would be much more well-rounded.
Gabriel Moscardo is another 18-year-old who could impress this season. At Corinthians, he was coveted by several top clubs, but PSG ultimately signed him last January and loaned him back to Corinthians for the rest of the season. He fills a need for PSG in the defensive midfield role, and will allow Zaïre-Emery and Vitinha to push forward and be more creative.
Senny Mayulu is an interesting prospect who has just turned 18. With Xavi Simons likely moving on this summer, PSG may want to keep Mayulu instead of sending him out on loan. Luis Enrique has proven that he isn’t afraid of playing younger players in his first season at PSG, and Mayulu has a lot of potential. He recently made his debut with the France U-19 team and has a goal in three appearances.
Yoram Zague is a very interesting player for PSG because the 18-year-old plays a crucial position, right-back. While Achraf Hakimi is the unquestioned starter, there’s not a lot of depth behind the Morocco international. Zague made five Ligue 1 appearances last season and scored a goal away at OGC Nice. If PSG doesn’t sign a right-back this summer, take it as a sign they believe in Zague’s development and see him as a suitable backup to Hakimi.
Other young players to keep an eye on include Noha Lemina (19), Ilyes Housni (19), and Ayman Kari (19).
