PSG Star More Deserving of Euro 2024 Player of the Tournament Than Man City Standout, Pundit Says

Spain secured a 2-1 win over England in the UEFA Euro 2024 final on Sunday at Olympiastadion. After the contest, Manchester City’s Rodri received the award for best player of the tournament; however, one pundit believes that honor should’ve gone to a Paris Saint-Germain player.

Fabián Ruiz played all six matches as a starter for Spain as the PSG midfielder scored two goals and recorded two assists. Moreover, Ruiz recorded 1.7 key passes per game, 65.2 passes per game, and a 91 percent pass completion percentage.

All these numbers showed how great a tournament the 28-year-old had for La Roja. As a result, English pundit Jamie Carragher wrote on platform X that Ruiz should’ve won player of the game over Rodri.

“Ruiz was better in this tournament,” Carragher said.

It will be interesting to see what the future lies for Ruiz as PSG could look to offload the player and sell high after his Euro 2024 performance. Still, there’s also the possibility that the Parisians keep the player and see a new version of Ruiz next season.

  1. Carragher is a very keen supporter of all things Man City even though he used to play for Liverpool.
So it’s only to be expected that he supports Rodri in this debate!!!
