Manchester United have reportedly landed LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro to bolster their defense now and for the future, considering his age. Nonetheless, his looming arrival begs the question of what happens with their interest in Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt.

Last month, RMC Sport reported that PSG are very interested in de Ligt, who is under contract with Bayern until 2027, and see him as a crucial addition to their team.

In recent days, Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Manchester United and Bayern Munich have not had any serious discussions about the Dutchman. Moreover, after reports revealed that Yoro is heading to Old Trafford, Plettenberg provided new information on this file.

According to Plettenberg, negotiations between Manchester United and Bayern Munich for de Ligt have gone cold. United are hesitant to meet Bayern’s demand of €50 million plus bonuses and have now prioritized pursuing the signing of Yoro.

If de Ligt stays with Bayern Munich, it’s doubtful the Bavarian club will proceed with signing Jonathan Tah. It will be interesting to see if this could be an opening for PSG to pursue the 24-year-old to bolster their defense if Manchester United decide not to move forward with this signing.
