Nico Williams from Athletic Club has definitely caught a lot of attention lately, especially after his standout performance at UEFA Euro 2024, where he played a crucial role in helping Spain win the trophy.
Earlier this month, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano mentioned that PSG might bide their time and make a move later, similar to how Bayern Munich approached Michael Olise. Additionally, a report from CaughtOffside last month revealed that Williams has caught the eye of several top clubs.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested. The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana has new information on this file from a PSG perspective.
According to Cortegana, PSG are keen on Williams and is firmly in the running for his transfer. They’ve already started reaching out to explore the possibility of making a deal.

Williams’ release clause is set between €55 million and €60 million, so the winger won’t come cheap. As a result, Cadena SER also reports that Barcelona might seek another loan to pay the forward’s release clause.
If they manage to get it, the most challenging part might be creating salary space in the squad. For that to happen, some players would need to leave, preferably those with high wages, since Williams will have a high salary.
