Athletic Club’s Nico Williams has attracted attention from several top European clubs, particularly following his impressive performances at UEFA Euro 2024.
According to a recent report from CaughtOffside, Williams has drawn interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, and PSG.
Moreover, a report from SPORT notes that Barcelona have an agreement with Williams over personal terms and the club must now activate his €58 million release clause. Furthermore, Athletic Club have no desire to negotiate with the Catalan side over the player.
Transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano provided his information on this transfer file, noting that PSG have yet to contact Athletic Club for Williams. However, with release clauses, there can always be surprises, as happened with Bayern Munich’s attack on Michael Olise just when he was close to Chelsea.

Cadena SER journalist Jordi Marti spoke about the hurdle Barcelona face in sealing a transfer for Williams this summer.
“The problem for Barça in signing Nico or Olmo is the salary,” Marti said. “With which salaries can they compete? With those of the Premier League? With those of PSG? That’s the big dilemma. For them to arrive, they must do a lot of things on their part because it must not be forgotten that today, Barça is not in normal conditions to register players.”
