Nottingham Forest Star Reveals Why He Chose to Stay Despite Summer Links to PSG

Last month, it was reported that Paris Saint-Germain was keen on Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. The capital club are looking to boost its defense, but any move for the Brazilian didn’t transpire.

This past January transfer window, the capital club went to Brazil and landed a gem in Lucas Beraldo. However, with Lucas Hernandez and Presnal Kimpembe out to start the 2024-25 season, improving the central defense is critical.

As a result, it made sense why rumors of PSG being linked to Murillo made sense. Nonetheless, the defender spoke with the Telegraph and explained why he opted to remain with the Premier League side rather than push for a departure this summer.

“Staying here for another season will enable me to mature as a player and eventually become better prepared if the chance ever comes to play at another level one day,” Murillo said (h/t The Mirror).

“Of course, I want to eventually play in the Champions League. When I was growing up, I’d play video games and play with all those teams. Whenever I hear that classic music before the games, it moves me, and it would be a dream to play in that competition.”

Over the past few weeks, PSG have been linked to young defenders such as Leny Yoro, who eventually left for Manchester United, and Dean Huijsen, who is reportedly joining Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old made 36 appearances for Forest this past 2023-24 season, registering two assists.
