On Thursday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Manchester United and Manuel Ugarte had reached an agreement on personal terms as the first steps toward a move to Old Trafford have begun.

Romano adds that contract terms were discussed, and the player is keen on moving to United even without UEFA Champions League football. The next step to complete this transfer is for the Red Devils to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over a transfer fee.

This could be where things get tricky and complicate the deal. According to L’Equipe, PSG is asking for €70 million for Ugarte, even though the Uruguayan has already agreed on terms with Manchester United. The two clubs still haven’t aligned their positions.

Moreover, the English side is considering a different proposal structure, including a potential loan with an option to buy. This week, journalist Jamie Jackson reported that the Premier League club values Ugarte at £38 million and might consider a loan deal.

A few days ago, journalist Ben Jacobs mentioned that although Manchester United and Bayern Munich are interested in Ugarte, their offers haven’t matched PSG’s €60 million asking price.
