Manchester United signed Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille this summer, adding youthful strength to their defense now and in the future.
With Yoro on board, there’s speculation about how this might impact their interest in Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. According to a recent report, negotiations between Manchester United and Bayern Munich for de Ligt have hit a snag.
Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano provided more information on this file and noted that if the Premier League side wants to land the Dutchman, a transfer could take some time.
“On Matthijs de Ligt, Bayern insist on €50 million, but United want to pay add-ons as part of the structure, rather than €50 million guaranteed,” Romano said in his CaughtOffside column. “De Ligt keeps waiting for Man United and is hoping for the move, but at the moment outgoings are really important for the Red Devils, so it could take some time to see what happens between the clubs.
“Remember as well that this story also impacts Jonathan Tah, who has an agreement to join Bayern, but who is waiting for De Ligt to leave as part of the domino, so let’s see what happens, but the Dutch defender is waiting and hoping to join Man United.”
Bild reports that Bayern Munich are open to selling de Ligt, potentially reuniting him with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. However, the Bundesliga side are asking for €50 million (£42 million), while United’s offer stands at €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons, totaling £29.4 million.
Negotiations are expected to continue, with Manchester United hoping Bayern’s need to offload players before making summer purchases will work in their favor. Additionally, last month, RMC Sport reported that Paris Saint-Germain are very interested in de Ligt, who is under contract with Bayern until 2027 and considers him a key target.
