It’s bad and good news for Manchester United who are one of the clubs keen on Paris Saint-Germain standout Xavi Simons. The latest information has the Dutchman leaving the French capital, but not to England.
According to a recent report by L’Equipe, Manchester United have been working on a deal to sign Simons for the past year, aiming to bring him to Old Trafford. Moreover, Bayern Munich have reportedly made an initial offer that includes a purchase option valued at €90 million.
While the German giants attempt to beat out the Red Devils, they must also be aware of Leipzig. Le Parisien’s Benjamin Quarez reports that Simons is set to join RB Leipzig on loan, giving PSG complete control over his future in 2025 and the potential to receive 100 percent of any transfer fee next summer.
PSV would take 60 percent of the fee if he were sold this summer. Simons never intended to return to PSG; his real ambition is to play in the Premier League, possibly in 2025, which bodes well for Manchester United.
