According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain is set to lose Xavi Simons in a transfer this summer and permanently by 2025. Transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano provided the latest on the file and where Manchester United stands in this race.

The Sunday Mirror’s Simon Mullock reported that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is considering a loan move for Simons. Moreover, the Red Devils aren’t alone in this pursuit.

L’Equipe reported this week that Bayern Munich have made an initial offer for Simons, including a purchase option valued at €90 million. The Bundesliga giants are keen to secure the deal and ensure they win the race.

In his latest column for CaughtOffside, Romano explained where the Simons file stands and whether Bayern Munich or Manchester United have an edge in the race for the 21-year-old.

“Xavi Simons continues to be linked with Manchester United and it’s something realistic because there has long been plenty of interest from him around Europe, including in England,” Romano noted in his Daily Briefing column.

“However, I’ve been checking with my sources and they’re still saying the same thing – that Simons is most likely to continue in Germany next season… I don’t expect this to be a long saga that drags into August because Simons wants to decide soon, but for now it’s between Bayern and Leipzig, and Man United are not in advanced talks over Simons.”

During his loan spell at RB Leipzig, Simons made a significant impact, featuring in 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and registering 15 assists.
