Man Utd, PSG Continue Tussle Over Bayern Munich’s €50M-Rated Star, Latest Reports Says

Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt might be on the move this summer, with his name frequently popping up in transfer rumors. The 24-year-old Dutch international is reportedly a target for Paris Saint-Germain, who are looking to strengthen their defense.

Last month, RMC Sport reported that PSG are targeting the Bayern Munich center-back, under contract until 2027, as a key addition to their defense. However, Manchester United appears to have an edge over the Parisians as they look to secure the former Ajax standout.

On Tuesday, Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg provided more information on the file. His reporting revealed that a de Ligt departure after UEFA Euro 2024 could happen rather quickly if the Red Devils make an offer.

Bayern Munich demands at least €50 million plus bonus payments for the Dutch defender and the Premier League club are surprised that Bayern would let De Ligt go. The 24-year-old is keen to join Manchester United as manager Erik Ten Hag made clear to him that he really wants him.

Still, the English side face competition from PSG, as journalist Christian Falk reports that PSG has contacted Bayern Munich to express interest in de Ligt.

A previous report revealed that Manchester United have not presented a formal offer for the player despite rumors linking them to de Ligt. The player’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is in direct contact with the Red Devils to find an agreement and a top solution for de Ligt.
