Manchester United have reportedly made a £42 million offer for LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro. The teenage defender is on the radars of various top teams, such as Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, they’ve made a proposal to Yoro after reaching an agreement on a fee with Lille. The Premier League side isn’t keen on waiting much longer for Yoro’s decision.
Meanwhile, Lille’s president, Olivier Létang, is encouraging him to move to Manchester United. CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson notes that PSG and Manchester United should take different approaches to land Yoro this summer.
“I think it’s a really underrated thing; the ability to part exchange of player,” Johnson said on the latest PSG Talking episode. “I don’t see that being done enough in transfers these days. And I think for French clubs, they need to approach the transfer window [in a] more different way than they have done in the past.
“Especially given the current situation with the TV rights where it sells something signed on paper, they cannot bank on any of that money arriving… the money won’t arrive immediately anyway.
“So I think for a club like Lille, the opportunity to bring in a player as part of [a deal]… and also get money at the same time would be hugely appealing. That, I think, is an angle that PSG could try to play them equally [and] Man United could also try to do that.”
Real Madrid appears to be Yoro’s preferred destination. Lille need to sell the player this summer, and considering the youngster’s contract expires in 2025, the Spanish side has leverage.
Romano recently reported that Real Madrid are keeping their cool amid Manchester United’s offer for Yoro. Knowing Yoro’s preference to join them, Real Madrid aims to seal the deal this summer for less than €60 million or wait until June 2025 to sign him on a free transfer.
