Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is reportedly set for a potential summer transfer, with rumors linking him to several European clubs, including notable interest from Manchester United.
On Sunday, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Manchester United and Bayern Munich have shown interest in the Uruguayan, but their offers haven’t come close to PSG’s €60 million asking price for Ugarte.
This month, Le10Sport reported that the English side sent a proposal of €45 million plus several bonuses, which has prompted internal discussions. Perhaps the lack of common ground on a transfer fee could lead to the Red Devils seeking other alternatives.
CaughtOffside reported on Monday that Crystal Palace ace Adam Wharton is on Manchester United’s radar. The 20-year-old plays the defensive midfield role similar to Ugarte, but the youngster is also versatile and can fill the central and attacking midfield jobs.
It will be interesting to see if this is just a backup plan for Manchester United or if they will go for Ugarte or SL Benfica’s João Neves. Wharton is under contract with Crystal Palace until 2029, so the midfielder will also be a costly target.
