Man City Selling PSG Target Would Be a ‘Mistake’ Amid Arsenal and Chelsea Rumors

Manchester City striker Julian Álvarez might be looking to leave Pep Guardiola’s squad this summer, especially with recent rumors linking him to Paris Saint-Germain. But if PSG wants the Argentine, they’ll have some tough competition.

In the 2023-24 season, the 24-year-old played in 54 matches for Manchester City, netting 19 goals and assisting on 13 others. His impressive numbers show he’s eager for a more consistent spot in the starting lineup.

PSG could be a potential landing spot for the two-time Copa America winner, but TEAMTalk reports that Arsenal and Chelsea are also preparing to go after the Manchester City forward this summer. Álvarez is likely to come with a price tag of around £77 million as he looks for a club where he can take on a more significant role.

“Álvarez wants to be involved in the biggest games,” one Sky Sports pundit said on “The Transfer Show.” “He wants to be playing in the biggest games. I think when you look at what happened last season, he started every Premier League game up until February. But in the back end of the season, when City were chasing titles and trophies, he wasn’t involved in the crucial matches…

“So there is uncertainty around somebody who, I think, despite missing out on those big games, is still a key player for Manchester City. So it’s interesting. A very young player. We’ve seen what he’s done for Manchester City, a very decorated player as well, but it would be a mistake for him to leave Manchester City because they are really onto a good thing.”

A few days ago, journalist Ben Jacobs provided an update on the Álvarez situation, suggesting that PSG might still be interested in signing the Argentine. However, Manchester City is hesitant to let him go and would need an offer of over £70 million to even think about it.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League side doe decide to sell and whether they’re open to selling to a direct rival or if PSG can swoop in to secure the Argentine.
