Paris Saint-Germain could be edging closer to securing SL Benfica midfielder João Neves. Moreover, if the Parisians can agree to a deal with the Portuguese side, they would’ve beat Manchester United to secure the teenager this summer.
A report from Record indicates that Neves prefers a move to PSG over Manchester United. According to the same Portuguese outlet, Neves’ transfer to PSG are expected to be finalized by next week. PSG have made a €70 million offer, but Benfica is holding out for a bit more.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided more behind-the-scenes information. He notes that PSG have officially bid around €70 million for Neves while Benfica is looking for a bit more, they understand that PSG won’t meet his €120 million release clause.
Romano adds that Neves has agreed to terms with PSG and is eager to join. He’s particularly convinced by the project, with Luis Enrique playing a crucial role in his decision.

Additionally, Benfica president Rui Costa confirmed that PSG has sent an official proposal for Neves after the player and club agreed on personal terms.
“There’s a proposal for João, yes,” Costa said. “We are discussing the amount. I never said that João would leave only for €120 million.”
