Liverpool Tricked into Believing PSG Target Preferred Spain as Manchester United Move Nears

The Leny Yoro saga reportedly concluded on Wednesday, with the LOSC Lille defender, contrary to popular belief, set to join Manchester United instead of Real Madrid.

On Monday, Foot Mercato reported that members of Yoro’s entourage preferred Manchester United. His agent initiated contract negotiations with the Red Devils, and it appears both parties have reached an agreement.

Yoro has been linked to other clubs, such as Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, but it seemed like the race was coming down to Manchester United and Real Madrid, with the Premier League club winning the sweepstakes.

However, could Liverpool have fought tougher to beat all these clubs in the Yoro race? The Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler reports that Yoro was Liverpool’s primary target for the defense, but the Reds were convinced he only wanted to move to Spain.

Nonetheless, that move to La Liga didn’t happen. As a result, Liverpool will now face the 18-year-old when they match up against Manchester United.

On the PSG side, L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi reported that the reigning Ligue 1 champions wanted a player to fill their need for a left-footed center-back.

However, Tanzi’s information also reveals that PSG have never offered more than €35 million plus €5 million in add-ons for Yoro (though it was not an official bid). Regardless, PSG wouldn’t have gone above €45 million, which is still well below Manchester United’s €62 million bid.
