Former PSG Star’s ‘Worrying’ Form Raises Concerns Ahead of Real Madrid Arrival, Pundit Says

The France national team crashed out in the semifinals after losing 2-1 to Spain on Tuesday night, and the squad has been criticized, especially former Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé.

RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo went after the 25-year-old, noting that after a challenging last season at Paris Saint-Germain, UEFA Euro 2024 was supposed to be the tournament that kicks off a new chapter in his career ahead of his first season with Real Madrid.

Moreover, Riolo cited his concerns about the future of Mbappé, especially if this is how the player will perform at major international tournaments.

“The French team was supposed to allow him to breathe after the past year (at PSG),” Riolo said (h/t Le10Sport). “(…) The Mbappé issue seems more serious than we think because dropping to such a low level is worrying. No one is throwing anything away, we just have to say that right now, it’s catastrophic.”

Mbappé will likely have to hit the ground running with Real Madrid this season to create positive momentum after a disappointing tournament in which he didn’t score a goal from open play.

The next tournament for the former PSG standout will be the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America as they look to win this competition after reaching the final in 2022.
