Although Manchester United edged out Paris Saint-Germain in signing former LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro, it looks like the capital club are set to outpace the Red Devils in acquiring SL Benfica midfielder João Neves.
Neves is PSG’s top target, and a recent Sports Zone report indicates that the club has agreed on personal terms with the teenager. Negotiations with Benfica are still ongoing. Additionally, a report from Record highlights that Neves favors a move to PSG over Manchester United.
According to the same Portuguese media outlet, Neves’ transfer to PSG are likely to be finalized by next week. PSG have made a €70 million offer, but Benfica is still pushing for a little more money.
Moreover, Benfica president Rui Costa confirmed that PSG have sent an official proposal for Neves after the player and club agreed to personal terms.
“There’s a proposal for João, yes,” Costa said. “We are discussing the amount. I never said that João would leave only for €120 million.”

Last month, Sports Zone also reported that Neves’ agent, Jorge Mendes, supports the move but insists the capital club sell some midfielders first. All signs point to Manuel Ugarte leaving this summer as the Uruguayan is linked to a move to Manchester United.
