Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt and Manchester United appear to be nearing a deal that would allow him to head to Old Trafford this summer. Moreover, with the Netherlands’ elimination, the defender’s future should be resolved soon.
According to a recent report from RMC Sport, PSG are eyeing de Ligt, currently under contract with Bayern until 2027, as a vital addition to their squad. However, new reports suggest Manchester United could have a stronger chance of signing him.
Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported on Wednesday that Bayern Munich are set to discuss de Ligt soon after being eliminated from the Euros.
The club still plans to sell him, but they’re waiting to see what steps Manchester United will take next, as there’s no agreement between the clubs yet.

Recently, Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler reported that Manchester United are close to agreeing to a £43 million fee with Bayern Munich for de Ligt.
It will be interesting to see if both sides can reach an agreement or if a club like PSG come in and swoop for the player. This past 2023-24 season, de Ligt made 30 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring two goals and registering one assist.
