Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported recently that Paris Saint-Germain has started pursuing Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori to bolster the center-back position.

Di Marzio highlighted PSG’s recent pursuit of Calafiori, indicating a strong interest. Arsenal currently leads the race for his signature, with Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen also in contention.

However, transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano has refuted this claim, and Sports Zone reports that Calafiori has reached a personal agreement with Arsenal. Despite this information, the latest reports have talks between the two clubs stalling.

According to Sky Sport Italia (h/t GOAL), Arsenal’s attempt to land Calafiori has hit a snag despite meeting the €50 million (£42/$54m) asking price. The reason why this deal is stalling is due to Bologna seeking better terms.

Calafiori has attracted considerable transfer attention this summer, with Arsenal among the interested parties. Initially leading the race for the Italian defender, Arsenal agreed to Bologna’s valuation.

It will be interesting to see if this is a minor hurdle or if it turns into something that a dialogue between the two clubs can’t overcome. Last season, Calafiori made 37 appearances, scoring two goals and registering five assists.
