Manchester United reportedly want Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte to bolster their midfield. However, the Red Devils are expanding their alternative targets and are not putting all their eggs in one basket.
Last week, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Manchester United have agreed to personal terms with Ugarte. Nonetheless, the issue regarding a transfer fee remains as both teams value the player differently.
French media outlet L’Equipe recently reported that the capital club are asking for €70 million for Ugarte, even though the Uruguayan has already agreed to terms with Manchester United.
The high cost could prompt Manchester United to consider alternative targets. RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins reports that the Premier League side are considering a move to sign Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana. Fofana has already agreed personal terms on a four-year contract with AC Milan.

Fofana joins Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi as another player that the English side could be keen on should a move for Ugarte not occur. Fofana has one more year on his contract with Monaco, so his transfer fee won’t be as high as Ugarte’s.
