The future of Xavi Simons remains uncertain, as his name is mentioned in rumors regarding a potential departure this summer. FC Barcelona is one of the clubs attempting to lure him away from Paris Saint-Germain.
Over the years, PSG has plucked talent away from the Catalan side, including Simons when he was still a youth player. Nonetheless, the Spanish club likely wants to return the favor at some point to the Parisians.
Mundo Deportivo highlighted points why they see Simons pushing a move back to Barcelona. According to the Spanish media outlet, the 21-year-old is a player who’s really liked by both the coaching staff and the management.
Additionally, they see him as a versatile midfielder who can play in any midfield position, chips in with goals from deeper areas and is great at orchestrating the play and distributing the ball.
Finally, Mundo Deportivo notes that he’s soaked in the Barça spirit, so fitting in wouldn’t be an issue, both on and off the field. He’s already got a bunch of pals in the dressing room from his academy days, like Gavi, Balde, and Fermín.
Fabrizio Romano recently mentioned that PSG got in touch with Simons’ representatives to make it clear they aren’t looking to offload him permanently this summer.
However, if Simons isn’t keen on going back, they’re considering a loan option, which appears to be the most likely outcome, and the player will have a say in deciding where he goes on loan next.
