Paris Saint-Germain are set to lose Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid, but the Spanish club won’t be getting another French player that the Ligue 1 side are eager to sign this summer.

LOSC Lille Leny Yoro has one more year on his contract, and if he chooses not to renew, Les Dogues will have to sell him this summer. A recent report revealed that Yoro will not sign for Los Blancos in the summer transfer window.

With PSG probably having the edge in the race for the 18-year-old, CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Johnson weighed in on the Lille defender making the move to the French capital this summer.

“I certainly think that that means PSG are now favorites for his signature at this moment in time,” Johnson told PSG Talk in an exclusive interview. “Obviously, there could be other big European clubs that enter the race for him, but I think PSG have a coherent project to put in front of him in an obvious place in the team for him. To me, it seems like a logical next step in his career.

“Going to Real Madrid was always, I think, going to depend on what happened in terms of the long-term fitness of Éder Militão, and now, with him coming back into the fold in recent weeks, I think that lessens the need for Leny Yoro, and obviously, there’s going to be the significant financial strain that comes with bringing in somebody of Kylian Mbappé’s stature. I think it’s good news for PSG, and it opens up the possibility of seeing him come in.”

The information doesn’t explain why Real Madrid are no longer in the running, leaving room for speculation. Is it due to the price the La Liga team is willing to pay, or has PSG persuaded the player and his team that Paris is the best place for his development? Either way, this twist in the saga will be interesting to watch.
