Kylian Mbappé will leave Paris Saint-Germain in a few weeks when his contract expires. The 25-year-old is likely to join Real Madrid this summer, but the Frenchman could leave on a sour note.
When Mbappé issued a video announcing his decision to leave PSG after this season, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner didn’t mention club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi while thanking those during his time with the French giants.
As a result, RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo shed light on Mbappé and Al-Khelaïfi’s relationship, which he says is a toxic one.
“The relationship (between Al-Khelaïfi and Mbappé) has become so toxic,” Riolo said (h/t Le10Sport). “It has always been toxic. When you establish relationships solely based on money and pettiness, they’re not healthy relationships.”
While there are challenges in the relationship with PSG, Mbappé and Real Madrid are likely having their first rift over the Summer Olympics. The Spanish club isn’t allowing any of its players to participate, but Mbappé is expressing his desire to win a gold medal in his hometown.
CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson believes that if Mbappé really wants to participate, he could play hardball. It will be interesting to see how this issue affects their relationship.
