Newcastle Sighs with Relief as PSG Drops Interest in Arsenal Target Ahead of Summer Window

The midfield position at Paris Saint-Germain could be tweaked this summer transfer window. Over the last couple of months, Newcastle United standout Bruno Guimarães has been linked to the French giants.

Since the January transfer window, several rumors have surfaced regarding PSG’s interest in the Brazilian. However, with the summer transfer opening in a few weeks, the Parisians’ plans might be shifting.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, PSG are now no longer in the conversation for Guimarães, and there is no plan to negotiate or trigger the release clause. This information is more good news for the Magpies.

A recent report suggests that there’s a limited window to take advantage of his release clause. Furthermore, The Athletic’s David Ornstein notes that Arsenal or anyone else will want/be able to pay that level of money for the 26-year-old.

While there are rumors regarding Guimarães, it seems the top European clubs might not desire to trigger the release clause for the Newcastle star. All this could mean that the former Olympique Lyonnais standout will remain with the Premier League side.

  1. His age is a stumbling block, because at 26 he would have no sell on value after four years. Not worth the purchase at £50 million let alone the laughable £100 million. Arsenal paid that for the 24 year old rice, because that is the age limit for a resale value.
