Kylian Mbappé Offers Bold Take Over PSG’s Prospects of Winning the Champions League

On Tuesday, at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain ended their UEFA Champions League run with a 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund, sealing a 2-0 aggregate defeat in the semifinals.

PSG fired off an impressive 30 shots during the match but only managed to get five on target, with four bouncing off the woodwork. It looked like luck just wasn’t on their side when it came to finding the back of the net. On the other hand, Dortmund secured the win with a lone goal from Mats Hummels in the 50th minute.

Kylian Mbappé spoke after the match and while his future is in question, the Frenchman believes that PSG are on the right track to win the Champions League.

“Of course, we’re disappointed; we wanted to qualify for the final,” Mbappé told reporters (h/t Canal Supporters). “In the Champions League, you need to be effective at both ends of the pitch, and on that front, they were better than us, so there it is…

“We’re disappointed for the fans, for our loved ones, but that’s how it goes. It’s a lengthy process, but we’ve shown throughout this season that we’re capable of going far. I believe the club isn’t far off.”

This loss marks the end of a significant chapter. Mbappé likely played his last Champions League match for PSG, as multiple reports suggest a transfer to Real Madrid in the upcoming summer window.
