On Friday, it was reported that Chelsea set a new transfer record by signing Palmeiras’ Estevão Willian. The Blues outbid several clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, to secure the 17-year-old talent.
According to journalist César Luis Merlo, the English club sent its last offer of €65 million guaranteed without objectives, which Palmeiras accepted. Nonetheless, The Athletic reveals different figures and how Chelsea intend to pay the Brazilian club.
The Premier League side will pay €34 million upfront for the winger, with another €23 million tied to performance-based incentives at his current club and his new one.
Willian will officially move to Stamford Bridge when he turns 18 in 2025 and sign what is expected to be at least a seven-year contract. Moreover, depending on the accuracy of the figures, this reported transfer will be the most expensive sale in America to Europe.
The teenager has appeared in 21 matches so far this season, scoring seven goals and registering three assists. PSG secured two Brazilians during the January transfer window: Lucas Beraldo and Gabriel Moscardo. Still, they whiffed on landing Endrick and, now, reportedly, Willian.
