Paris Saint-Germain had the chance to open the scoring via a penalty kick, but Kylian Mbappé missed his shot. However, the Frenchman redeemed himself minutes later to give the Parisians a 1-0 lead late in the first half.
Mbappé went into the box for a one-on-one duel, and then his shot went off the foot of a Rennes player who stuck it out. Despite the attempt to block the 25-year-old’s shot, it instead allowed for the deflection to find the back of the net for the opening goal of the match.
