River Plate Takes Firm Stance on PSG Target Amid Interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly one of the clubs cited as having an interest in Franco Mastantuono. With several European clubs circling the Argentine wonderkid, River Plate intends to stand firm about not negotiating.

Other clubs vying for the 16-year-old include PSG, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid. A recent report from TNT Sports Argentina notes that Los Blancos could be the leader in this race.

However, any club eyeing Mastantouno must be prepared to meet his hefty price tag. According to TyC Sports (h/t Diario AS), River Plate is adamant that any potential suitor must trigger the €45 million release clause in the player’s recently signed contract.

The €45 million could increase to €50 million if his departure from River Plate occurs ten days before the transfer market closes. Additionally, his release clause is the highest in the history of Argentine football.

Jorge Brito, River Plate’s president, doesn’t want to repeat what happened with Claudio Echeverri in January when another academy gem was sold to Manchester City for €18 million plus €9 million in variables.

Both Diablito and Mastantuono represent the two most promising pieces for River Plate fans this season. One is already Europe-bound, and it’s only a matter of time until the other joins him.
