Ousmane Dembélé was one of the stars in Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-1 second leg (6-4 on aggregate) win over FC Barcelona. Following this thrilling result, the capital club is now off to the UEFA Champions League semifinals.
Dembélé came to haunt his former club in both matches, scoring in the first leg. Despite having the entire crowd against him in the second leg, the 26-year-old scored again at a crucial time late in the first half.
The Frenchman also generated the penalty kick opportunity after being on the receiving end of a foul from Barcelona defender João Cancelo. Kylian Mbappé scored the penalty kick in the 61st minute to give PSG a 3-1 lead in the match and a 5-4 lead on aggregate and the team didn’t look back after that.
Squawka highlighted a stat that will probably feel like a punch to the gut to Barcelona supporters. According to the outlet, Dembélé has now scored as many Champions League knockout round goals against Barcelona as he did for them (two).
