Newcastle Aim to Keep ‘Very Rare’ Player Amid PSG Interest, Manager Says

The Paris Saint-Germain midfield will probably receive a boost this summer, and one of the targets could be Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães. On Thursday, a report surfaced that further fuels this rumor as his agent was at the Parc des Princes.

Nonetheless, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe exudes confidence in the club’s ability to retain their key players amidst transfer speculation. The capital side will surely be looking to lure the Brazilian standout back to France.

“Let me tell you, players like Bruno, they are not around every corner,” Howe said (h/t GOAL). “They are very rare. Bruno should be appreciated for everything he brings. My intention would be to keep Bruno at the club for as long as we possibly can.

“I can never make guarantees though. That would be absolutely foolish of me. We have been in football long enough to know you don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow.”

The Newcastle star is said to have a €115 million release clause, which requires a hefty sum and his own decision to depart from the Magpies. Still, he’d bring that hierarchy to the midfield that PSG would welcome as they begin a new era this summer.

Guimarães is no stranger to Ligue 1, having played during his time with Olympique Lyonnais, so it’s a league he’s familiar with. As the summer months draw nearer, it’ll be intriguing to observe how this situation unfolds.
