Man Utd Gears Up to Challenge Chelsea, PSG for French Defender with €70M Release Clause

Paris Saint-Germain are looking to bolster their defense this summer transfer window, particularly focusing on the center-back position. In the recent January transfer window, they brought in Lucas Beraldo, and now they’re in competition with Chelsea and Manchester United to secure the signature of a promising French defender.

This season, PSG’s center-back depth chart has been put to the test, particularly with Presnel Kimpembe unable to return from his injury. Milan Skriniar has also had injury troubles and some underwhelming performances. Consequently, it seems PSG is in the market to bolster its options in that position.

A recent report reveals that the Ligue 1 side are keen on RB Leipzig star defender Castello Lukeba. However, Foot Mercato reports that two Premier League clubs have their eyes on the 21-year-old defender.

According to the French media outlet, Manchester United has been closely monitoring their progress for weeks. Recently, Chelsea have also shown interest in the solid defender from RB Leipzig.

Despite the German club’s €70 million release clause, which won’t be active until 2025, they have no plans to let go of their player this summer. It remains uncertain whether this will deter the enthusiasm of the two Premier League giants.
