Paris Saint-Germain will likely aim to improve their midfield this summer, but the capital club might not be willing to break the bank on a player to bolster the position. João Neves is one player on every top European club in the next transfer window, but he might be too rich for PSG.
Neves has had a stellar season with Benfica, attracting the attention of several top clubs, including FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United, and PSG. The Portuguese side is aware of this and prepared to present a challenging stance.
Le10Sport reports that the 19-year-old’s release clause, worth around €120 million, could be too rich for PSG to pay. Furthermore, with other clubs that can drop the cash for the transfer fee and salary, the capital club might look elsewhere to improve their midfield.
Manchester United could be the most aggressive of the teams involved as they eye a double swoop of talents. The Red Devils are also in on Antonio Silva to have two Portuguese players as building blocks.
PSG will have other areas to focus on, and spending a triple-digit sum on a teenager might not be the ideal decision.
