Paris Saint-Germain standout Kylian Mbappé is reportedly on his way to Real Madrid once he becomes a free agent. The 25-year-old’s contract with the Parisians expires in June and he can then proceed to leave for the Spanish capital.
However, former French footballer Robert Pirés believes that going to Los Blancos is a mistake and he’d rather see Mbappé join a Premier League team. As a result, he would’ve preferred to see the PSG star reject Real Madrid again.
“I would like to see him in Liverpool,” Pirés said (h/t Diario AS). “It’s a great club, family, good structure, no pressure, calm fans… And I say that Mbappé-Salah can be quite explosive. I think he is capable of rejecting Real Madrid.”
A recent report from L’Equipe suggests that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s departure is looming and that the public’s perception of his exit matters to him. According to the French media outlet, Mbappé worries about how the general public will perceive his departure from PSG.
This concern may be contributing to his current decline in form. It will be interesting to see how the forward navigates his departure since his behavior regarding his early substitutions appears to be souring his image among some supporters.
