How PSG Envision Landing Kylian Mbappé-Replacement from Real Madrid, per Expert

It’s widely anticipated that Kylian Mbappé will depart Paris Saint-Germain once his contract runs out in June, making a move to Real Madrid. The next question for the Parisians is, how do they replace the Frenchman?

Over the last few months, there have been various rumors linking the capital club to players as potential Mbappé replacement. In his column for Caught Offside, CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Johnson spoke about Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior being an option, maybe not this summer, but down the road.

It seems the Brazilian will stay with the Spanish giants for next season. However, if the situation doesn’t go as planned, could the 23-year-old look for a switch? If he does, Johnson believes that PSG would be interested in the player.

“If Vinicius were to become available at any point, I think PSG would be very interested, but I don’t think they’d want him in a scenario where they’d have to pay for Vinicius, having lost Mbappe on a free transfer,” Johnson wrote. “I think PSG would prefer an exchange, but obviously, at this moment in time, that doesn’t look likely with Mbappe’s contract expiring, and it doesn’t seem like Vini Jr.’s star is on the wane at Real Madrid, certainly not enough for him to be used in an exchange deal.

“At the same time, there might be a moment when Vinicius might consider a move – we know his agent has spoken about the Premier League in the past – so he could perhaps be open to becoming a star name in PSG, a club that has historically had great success with Brazilian players.”

It will be interesting to see if PSG plays the long game and monitors the situation. Should they get the opportunity, the club might take advantage and have the next star of the team.
